Our second day in Victoria we spent at Craigdarroch Castle and Christ Cathedral Church. (We went a few more places too, but these were our favorites and where we spent the most time.) If your looking for a great bagel place, try "Bagels on Broad"! Mmm, they were SO yummy. They make a subway style sandwhich out of your choice of bagel and your choice of like 10 different types of cream cheese. (Maybe this is more common in some places then others, but I don't have one anywhere near where I live and we loved it!) I just have to say, Adam took most of these pictures. He is really good and always includes lots of detail, so I am leaving out a ton of great pictures that I just don't want to take the time to upload. :)

I found this sign to be amazing. In 1890 this woman was worth about $20,000,000!!! And, all my black furniture is very chic! Its called "ebonized" :) I knew I was fancy! (thats the other highlighted word and the picture below shows an example....looks a little better then mine does!)

This next one makes me laugh. We went down to the bagel store to get lunch. And as we pull up the street I noticed something draped all along the street. (3 blocks and on both sides of the street!) A radio station was doing a breast cancer awarness ploy. Oh my!

We took a LOT of pictures inside this church. It was really very cool and had a lot of neat history in it. It is still an up and running church, but they have lots of interesting "tourist" stuff about the history of it hanging on the walls and all over. (What better way to get people into your church!) There were all kinds of cool geometric patterns, lights, colors, stained glass and lots more!

I'll have to post more pictures of the church later...I'm running out of time this morning before my "Moms Group".

Victoria Trip

We visited Victoria BC last weekend for our 10th anniversary. I will post some pictures and try to trickle in information.... :)

First off, we got to visit our good friends in WA and see their new baby! :) She was just 2 days old! We stayed the night at their house with their daughter so mom and dad could be at the hospital. It was a lot of fun playing with their 2 year old. Its funny how that works, we both got down on the floor to play with her and were discussing when the last time we did that with our own kiddos was. (Why is it easier with someone else's kids?)

Then we headed over for a quick visit at the hospital to see mom and baby. It was so good and I couldn't believe how great Jen looked for just having a baby and getting no sleep! (I want to post a picture of her but she hasn't approved it, so I better not!)

Then we headed to Port Angeles, WA to catch the ferry over to Victoria. I had to have a coffee and we needed gas so we stopped on our way...

I thought this Coffee "I.V." was pretty funny! :)

But we barely made it, with just 10 minutes to spare before we HAD to be in line. There was plenty of room and we had to wait for 30 minutes still, but we were nervous that we had cut things to close. I just had to see the baby before we left though.

We were planning to walk on the ferry to save about $50 but decided at the last minute we would take the car if there was room.

About 10 minutes into the 90 minute crossing I glanced over and saw this ship with the word TEN on it. I had to take a picture since it was the day of our 10th anniversary. :)

Coming into Victoria...

We both felt a little motion sickness, but not too bad.

Once we got off the ferry we had to go through their customs....and for some reason they chose to stop us to check our ID etc. (As in, everyone got stopped to check ID, but they asked us to pull forward and wait outside this building while someone took our ID inside. Hmm, we don't know why, but it bugged my husband and he kept speculating as to why they chose us! :) ) We went to our hotel and got settled and then drove into downtown to walk around for the 2 hours of remaining daylight.

We ate dinner at the Sticky Wicket. :) One of our friends uses that term a lot and it made me laugh to see a restraunt named that. It was really good and a fun place to go.

After dinner we decided to walk around downtown. It was dark by then and there were a lot of wild people out. At one point we were walking back towards the parking garage and there were two guys on the sidewalk near the street. I don't know if they were talking or not but they seemed to be. The next thing we know one of them is two steps behind us and the other is walking in the same direction as us a few feet to my side. I got a REALLY bad feeling about it and crowded in to Adam (near the arm they he was carrying our camera and camera bag.) we kinda picked up our pace and then veered into a store. The person behind us followed at first, but when we went towards the checkstands/exit door instead of the second set of entrance doors he stopped and turned to go inside. We then immediately turned back around and went outside. It was very weird. I am sure the God protected us from being mugged on the street. We then decided to head STRAIGHT back to the car.

There were tons of Toyota Prius cabs. Some other friends have a Prius so I took a picture purely for their benefit.

After our close encounter we decided just to drive around a bit and enjoy the lights. We came across an old school Walmart...it was very different looking. We had to take a picture since my mother in law LOVES Walmart. We then decided to go inside and get a few things like milk and oreos! :)

After that we headed back to the hotel and hunkered down for the night.
