The Albany Brass Ring Carousel

Yesterday, as an end of the school year field trip, the girls and I visited the carousel museum downtown. It was a lot of fun. I was glad that we made it before school was out for the summer....it was nice to be one of the few visitors.
We got to see the animals in nearly all the stages of carving and painting. There were some animals that had been carved but not pieced together, other blocks of wood that were not yet carved. Painted horses, finished zebras, an adorable bear and even a giraffe! (Faith got to sit on that one!)


One of the volunteers showed us around, told us about the different animals and even shared her quarters with us so the girls could have a ride on "Jasper" the frog. She also sent me these adorable pictures since I forgot my own camera! (Thank you!)

We plan to go back in a few months to see how the giraffe is progressing. They say the carousel should be complete in about 5 more years! You can read more about it at http://www.albanybrassring.com/
